A few months back, we covered a 3D printables repository called Pinshape, a sort of Pinterest for 3D printing that allows designers to sell or giveaway their 3D printable designs. The site, still in beta, will be implementing an optional streaming service, for secure streaming of .stls, and a distributed 3D printer network. To gain more traction, Pinshape has recently launched an enticing contest. The graphic below explains it all:
So, all you have to do is share/like Pinshape on a variety of social media services and you gain more entries into the raffle. The prize, as you can see from the graphic, is a MakerBot 3D printer and a 3D print of Bill Murray. I have to admit that I entered the contest using all of the various methods because I love Bill Murray, which is one of the 4 rules for the contest:
1. You must be a human who loves 3D Printing
2. You must be a human who loves Bill Murray
3. Open worldwide. We cover the first $100 to ship this 3D Printer!!
4. If you need your parents permission. Get it.
The site also quotes a story about the actor that is worth retelling here. Apparently, there’s an urban legend that Murray will grab strangers from behind with a mighty bear hug. When said stranger turns around to see the star of Ghostbusters, Rushmore, and Space Jam, he says, “No one will ever believe you” and walks away. That alone is enough reason to enter this contest — right?
