Sciaky Begins Selling Giant Metal 3D Printers Abroad via EFESTO LLC

Sciaky, Inc., subsidiary of Phillips Service Industries, Inc. (PSI), is known for its large-scale Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) metal 3D printers, which it has been implementing for use in aerospace projects for quite some time.  Only recently, however, has the Chicago-based company begun selling these systems, opening up the world of large-scale metal 3D printing to those who can afford it.  Today, those sales will ramp up significantly, as the company has made a structured reseller agreement with EFESTO, LLC to sell their EBAM systems, as well as their metal printing services, abroad to “targeted countries and named accounts”.

Michigan-based EFESTO is a unique company in itself, making headlines last year with a large-scale 3D printed component made on their own metal printer.  With Ashok Varma as CEO, who has previous experience as the COO of the POM Group and a reseller of Optomec machines, the company is, it seems, also in the process of taking on more metal 3D printers and reselling products around the world. Among them is Sciaky’s EBAM, with which EFESTO will act as the exclusive sales representative in selling Sciaky’s EBAM solutions to Australia, Brazil, China, India, Japan, Nigeria, Poland, Russia and South Korea.  EFESTO will also target specific oil & gas companies in the Middle East and the US.

Varma said of the deal, “This relationship with Sciaky has compelling synergies, providing EFESTO a remarkable technology and product line to bring to its global customers, as well as the opportunity to utilize in its own service bureaus.”  Mike Riesen, general manager of Sciaky, Inc., added, “Sciaky is proud to bring EFESTO aboard for key countries and accounts around the world. Sciaky’s EBAM process is the fastest, most scalable metal 3D printing process in the world.”

This is an interesting partnership, as it sees a company with a notable history of metal 3D printing for government and aerospace projects partnered alongside another business with the same industry focus.  With EFESTO providing multiple types of metal printing to clients around the world, the two could become a powerful player in the world of metal 3D printing.
