Makies 3D Printed Dolls Make US Debut

Makies, the world’s most notable brand of 3D printed doll, has been climbing its way up the toy scene in the face of mass manufactured brands, like Mattel.  Winning numerous awards and finding its place on the shelves of Hamleys, the world’s oldest and largest toy store, the customizable, 3D printed doll line has made its way to the United States, where it will debut at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair (ChiTAG) this month.

Due to the 3D printing used to create them, Makies are completely customizable, meaning that, unlike mass-manufactured figures like Barbies and American Girl Dolls, the toys are individualized for every child.  From eye shape to clothing, customers can design their Makie from head to toe.  For that reason, the brand has earned a huge number of accolades, including the award bringing Makies to the US in the first place.

At ChiTAG, MakieLab CEO Alice Taylor is nominated for the Rising Star Inventor of the Year award, for her innovative approach to toy design and manufacturing.  In addition to honoring the nomination, Taylor will be giving a keynote address at the Toys & Games Conference.  She will, of course, be bringing her dolls in tow, so that attendees will have the chance to play with the Makies hands-on.

If you happen to be in the area, head over to Navy Pier November 22-23 to see the Makies in person.  If you can’t make it, the 3D printed line is also available for purchase on Amazon or through the Makies store.
