Kiehl's Wants to Send Your Face to Space with 3D Printing

Since the latest face moisturizer from cosmetics manufacturer Kiehl’s is made with Aerolite, a material developed by NASA for spacecraft insulation, what better way to advertise it then by sending it into space. Right? That’s what the marketing team at Night Agency thought when they decided to launch the product into space on a DIY weather balloon, strapped with GoPro cameras.  After successfully doing so once, the cosmetics brand is hoping for more involvement from the public with a second weather balloon stunt.

Kiehl's to 3D print astronaut selfie for Space Face moisturizer marketing campaign

Kiehl’s will be launching a second tube of their Men’s Oil Eliminator 24 Hour Anti-Shine Moisturizer into space, and, this time, they’ll be sending a 3D printed astronaut selfie along for the ride.  “A 3D printed whoisawhat?” You know, a 3D printed astronaut with the face of one lucky winner of the “Kiehl’s in Space” campaign. “Oh! That!”

Kiehl's to 3D print astronaut selfie for Space Face moisturizer zero gravity

If you want to send your face, 3D printed onto the body of an astronaut, into space, you’ve got to take a picture of yourself in a “Zero Gravity” pose and post it on social media as follows: on Twitter and Instagram with #spaceface and #usa, as well as on Facebook, directly to Kiehl’s wall the same hashtags. And that’s it! If you’re chosen as the winner, your face on an astronauts body will be 3D printed, tied up to a weather balloon, and flown into space.  The 1st place winner will also receive a $250 gift certificate to Kiehl’s.  2nd place winners take home $100 gift certificates.

If none of this post makes sense, it’s either because the marketing industry has distorted our reality into an incomprehensible mess or our reality was already an incomprehensible mess to begin with. Or both.
