London’s 3DP and AM Global Summit 2014 is Growing with the Industry

Seems like a thousand years ago but it was around this time last year that I began to dedicate my freelance work primarily to 3D printing and when I started writing for 3DPI my very first article was a preview on London’s first 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Industrial Applications Summit. I was already fascinated by the speaker line up and the subjects covered, anywhere from advanced automotive and aerospace applications to medical and meta materials.

Back then I concluded my article stating that the price tag to attend, which this year is £1,099 for full price and £899 for advanced registration by September 26th (add £399 for video and audio recordings), was a small price to pay to be at the forefront of the 3D printing revolution and, upon attending last year and regularly implementing the knowledge I acquired during the event in my work, I must say that – if you can afford it – it was no overstatement.

3D Printing Additive Manufacturing Summit

The Summit is organized to provide back to back testimonies by people that are making the additive manufacturing (r)evolution possibile by pushing its boundaries farther and farther. This edition 2nd edition will include Ajay Purohit, Chief Rapid Proto And Craftsmanship Tools at Tata Motors, Maltesh Somasekharappa, Head Of Advanced Manufacturing Solutions at Wipro Infrastructure Engineering as well as representatives from consumer product oriented companies such as Ralf Schwenger, R&D Director at HEAD Sports.

Academic research will be represented by Damien Buchbinder, Teamleader (Advanced SLM Systems), Rapid Manufacturing Group at Fraunhofer ILT, while Michael Banach, Senior Research Manager from Plastic Logic will give an overview on the rapidly advancing field of plastic (thus printable) electronics.

There will be more, as the Summit organized by London Business Conferences is one of a few congresses focusing on mass production applications of 3D printing. It will build upon the experience collected and acquired during the first, quite successful, edition, by introducing new business case analysis, a greater focus on materials, and the ever present issue of standardization. The industry is growing fast, and by sharing the knowledge, London Business Conference’s Global Summit intends to help it grow faster.
