Inc Magazine Adds Another 3DP Company to it’s List

Wisconsin’s Midwest Prototyping was named by Inc. Magazine as one of 2014’s 5,000 fastest growing companies in the US again. They join several other 3D printing companies including Studio Fathom, Adafruit and TechShop.

For the third year in a row, Midwest Prototyping has made the list at spot no. 3724 with a three year growth rate of 85%. The 3D printing and prototyping firm was started in 2001 with a single stereolithography machine in a small one room office. Only thirteen years later and they have moved into a new 18,000 foot facility with five SLA 3D printers, a selective laser sintering 3D printer, a half dozen CNC and milling machines, a plasma cutter, and a custom paint booth for finishing work.

According to Steve Grundahl, founder of Midwest Prototyping: “To be included on this list three consecutive years is a great honor and one I am proud of. This is a testament to our staff and their willingness to learn, grow, and embrace new opportunities and challenges. For several years now, we’ve been in a nearly constant mode of remodeling our facility, adding new equipment, software, and redefining processes. The 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing industry is a very exciting place to be right now.”

inc 5000 magazine 3d printingInc. Magazine has been tracking and highlighting the most profitable privately owned businesses in the US since 1979. Their Inc. 500 and Inc. 5000 lists are compiled every year and companies are ranked based on revenue growth over a period of four years. According to Inc. this was the most competitive year ever, with all 5,000 members of the list earning a combined 211 Billion in revenue and responsible for creating 505,000 new jobs.

“What surprises me, even though I know it’s coming, is the sheer variety of the paths our entrepreneurs take to success, thematically reflecting how our economy has evolved,” stated Eric Schurenberg Inc. Magazine President and Editor-In-Chief.

Congratulations to Midwest Prototyping and all of the 3D printing companies that made it on 2014’s Inc 5,000!
