Free 3D Printable of the Week: Google VR 5.8 Prototype

Sketchfab user Chaitanya Krishnan has a unique vision of the future of technology, and it does not involve copyright law.  So, while his latest model, a 3D printable model of a futuristic VR helmet fictionally developed by Google, he doesn’t seem to care whether or not Google cares that he’s using their name for his model.  He writes on his website, “This website is the property of Chaitanyak®. I am based in India where current international ‘cyber-laws’ either do not apply or are not enforced, nor do their enforcers have any hope of getting their hands on me. Therefore, if I am in violation of any laws its probably because I don’t know about them, or I simply don’t care.”

Will we all wear headsets like these one day? Some of us will, while the rest of us get to run around the streets and have a good time.  Unless the environment becomes uninhabitable due to climate change or nuclear war or aliens.  Then, we’ll probably all be wearing this helmets.  And, who knows, maybe we already are. I think they made a movie about that once.

In this reality, you can 3D print your own copy of this figure. You can also purchase some of Chaitanya’s models as prints directly from Shapeways.  And be sure to check out all of his models, as he’s got some pretty fascinating pieces on his Sketchfab page and on his website.
