Carbon3D to Host Women in Manufacturing California Chapter

Carbon3D is not only forward thinking in terms of its approach to 3D printing, reflected in its ultra-fast CLIP technology unveiled last year. The Silicon Valley startup is also forward thinking when it comes to social progress, announcing the launch of a San Francisco community chapter of the Women in Manufacturing™ (WiM) group.

With 500 members, Women in Manufacturing™is a national association devoted to supporting and promoting women in the manufacturing industry. Together, the group focuses on networking, sharing information, and skill enhancement through events, mentoring, sponsorship programs, and more. Business development manager at Carbon, Dana McCallum, will direct WiM California.  McCallum boasts a history in manufacturing, initiating her experience in injection molding and 3D printing, as well as serving as vice president on the board for the Additive Manufacturing Users Group (AMUG). McCallum says of the new California chapter, “I am honored to be a part of the launch for the WiM California Chapter. I am a true believer in WiM’s purpose and have a passion for manufacturing as well as networking, so it is exciting to have the opportunity to bring women in California together.”

The WiM California Chapter will kick off its first event at Carbon 3D’s headquarters in Redwood City, California on Monday, February 22, 2016, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. There, WiM members and other women in the manufacturing industry will have a chance to network.  WiM President Allison Grealis will host the event, while Milo Werner, Director of New Product Introduction Operations at Fitbit, will be the keynote speaker.

WiM president Allison Grealis comments, “We are thrilled to launch our first chapter on the West Coast. As a growing national organization, we aspire to eventually have a community chapter in every state and our WiM California Chapter is another step towards this goal. Women across the country are seeking an industry support network and I’m proud that Women in Manufacturing is fulfilling this need.”
