3D Printing Talent Recruiters Enter the Marketplace

The 3D printing industry has certainly started to mature. I had personally expected the growth of 3D printing services, stores and model repositories.  What I didn’t expect — though others at 3DPI may have — was the development of 3D printing job recruiters. Our job board is one example of the demand for employees with 3D printing related skills. Gravity, a UK-based recruitment agency, has broadened its employment sectors from design, engineering, art, production, and marketing to include 3D printing with Gravity 3D.

Gravity 3D scours the internet for talented individuals with 3D-printing skills to connect with potential employers. Founded by James Squires, the company has a team of three recruiters who focus on four different skill areas: design & engineering, software, sales & marketing, and 3D modelling. Though the company is based in the UK, they’re recruiting the world over, with the US as their biggest target market. Squires explains, “We have many years of global recruitment experience, including complex relocations and we will work with the companies that need us, where ever they are.”  As a citizen of that target market, I say, Scandinavia, here we come!

To complement the recruitment process, Gravity also has a jobs board, 3DPrintingJobs.biz, where, as the site grows, you’ll find jobs posted by potential employers.  The site hasn’t launched yet, but, with both the recruitment site and the job boards site, Squires says

that the company “[wants] to work with service providers, software developers, equipment/printer manufacturers, materials companies, research labs, architects and any industrial organisations using 3D Printing in rapid prototyping, product development and production for example.

Such niche businesses as Gravity 3D’s will only grow as the industry does. So, I really shouldn’t be too surprised with the new businesses I come across. And you shouldn’t be surprised if you’re approached by a British man who politely offers you a job in exchange for pay; you may have just been introduced to Gravity 3D.
