It’s hard to imagine that the 3D Hubs community was just a speck in its founders eyes two and a half years ago and, now, the distributed manufacturing network is growing at an exponential rate. At the beginning of the year, the site was only up to 10,000 3D printer listings and, six months later, 3D Hubs now has 20,000 3D printers listed. In fact, more Hubs have been added in the past six months than the previous two years combined. To celebrate their momentous milestone, 3D Hubs is hosting a contest for their community.
To enter, Hub owners need to post a picture of themselves with their 3D printer(s) on social media with the hashtag #WeAre20k. Then, 3D Hubs will be featuring one of these Hubs daily for the next twenty days, in which they’ll post the photo on their main page and link to the Hub’s profile page. Each of these featured Hubs will also receive a 3D Hubs Hoodie. All other submissions will be shared through social media.
The top 3 most original photos will receive $500, $250 and $100 in credit to be spent with the Hub Perk partner of their choice (Colorfabb, AstroPrint, Proto-Pasta, Madesolid, Filabot and Buildtak). There are a few guidelines on the 3D Hubs Talk page devoted to the contest, so, if you’re a Hub, you should check it out. Otherwise, you’ll just have to hope your favorite Hub wins.
