AMT and VDW Announce Industrial 3D Printing Award Valued at $100k

The Association For Manufacturing Technology (AMT) and German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabriken for short) have partnered to launch a new award devoted to industrial 3D printing with a value totaling $100,000. The International Additive Manufacturing Award (IAMA) competition is accepting applications from now until December 31, so, if you’re a 3D printing genius or a team of 3D printing geniuses, get crackin’.

Douglas K. Woods, President of AMT, said of the new award, “The global manufacturing community is paying close attention to the many new technology breakthroughs in the additive manufacturing sector. As more companies move to expand the capabilities of this technology and more end users find production solutions leveraging additive manufacturing, the landscape of manufacturing will evolve at a pace the industry has not seen in a generation. I hope this award inspires additive technology innovators from around the world to submit their best ideas for the future of this promising technology.”

Dr. Wilfried Schäfer, Executive Director of VDW contributed, “It is my hope that the IAMA will turn the world spotlight on the pioneers and top performers in this high-tech manufacturing sector. VDW is pleased to join AMT in a global competition that can ultimately benefit the entire industry.”

The winner of this award will receive $20,000 in cash and a media package valuing $80,000, in order to promote their project.  The winner will be announced at The MFG Meeting (Manufacturing for Growth) next spring, March 4-7, in Orlando, Florida.
