German RepRap’s X400 Receives a CE Certification

X400, the moderately priced prosumer-grade 3D printer from German RepRap with a huge build volume, has received CE certification according to DIN ISO 9001 proven standards. In practice – and using the official jargon – this certification means that: “the X400 CE 3D printer was produced, adjusted and tested in compliance with the DIN-ISO 9001 guidelines for quality management systems.” The core of this is basically related to the safety of using the machine, which is why this type of accreditation is often an obligatory requirement even for consideration by many companies, especially larger ones. So this is a significant development that will open up this level of 3D printer to a much wider target market for German RepRap. The printer, which we originally reported on in February, is among the pioneers of its class to receive such a certification.
