EOS Highlights 3D Printing Success Stories at the International Manufacturing Technology Show

The International Manufacturing Technology Show is one of the largest industrial manufacturing conventions in the US and drew well over 100,000 attendees in 2013. EOS will present additive manufacturing success stories from some of their clients including Boeing, GE Aviation and Honeywell Aerospace at their North American User Day (NAUD) event held during the convention.

The presentations will focus on how EOS laser sintering technology has been used in developing high quality end-use metal components for the aerospace industry. This is the first time that EOS has presented additive manufacturing case studies at the IMTS and it is the first time that the day-long NAUD event will be open to all convention attendees.

The NAUD has traditionally been a smaller event focused entirely on existing EOS customers. By opening up NAUD to all IMTS attendees EOS is attempting to create opportunities for networking between experts, researchers and industry leaders.

“Events like the NAUD are instrumental in educating manufacturers about Additive Manufacturing and helping fast-track it onto the production floor alongside traditional processes,” says America Makes Director Ed Morris. “As organizations recognize the competitive advantage this technology offers — everything from optimized product designs to value optimization through streamlined supply chains and reduced inventories — we want to help them accelerate their implementation of this innovative technology.”

The NAUD speaker line-up will include Morris who is representing the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute as well as presenters from companies like Shapeways, AMT- Association for Manufacturing Technology and 3D Microprint.

EOS will also be presenting their newest direct metal laser sintering 3D printer the EOS M 290, which can 3D print in stainless steel, titanium, aluminium, cobalt chrome and nickel alloys. The M290 has a build volume of 250mm x 250mm x 325mm and is an upgraded version of the M 280, which is one of the leading laser sintering 3D printers on the market.

You can register to attend the IMTS here. The show is taking place September 8th until the 13th in Chicago, Il. The EOS booth is located in the North Hall at booth N-7061. And the NAUD will be a day-long event taking place on September 10th in the West Hall room W-181.
