For the American national holiday to celebrate its independence on 4th of July, Stratasys paid tribute by 3D printing an iconic symbol of freedom – the Statue of Liberty. The original was a gift from France to the people of America in 1886. The 3D printed replica however, was produced courtesy of Stratasys’ Objet Connex process and digital-materials.
A nice little tidbit of information from Michael Swack on the Stratasys blog highlights the manufacturing time frames of the New York landmark and the scaled replica — “it took 10 years to manufacture the original and only 10 hours to 3D print the prototype.”
