Lucky Joe Lutgen Wins Stratasys’ Rapid Ready Sweepstakes

Valued at close to $10,000, a 3D printing prize pack now sits with Joe Lutgen of RSI Mechanical LLC after he won the Stratasys Rapid Ready Sweepstakes. Chosen at random by Desktop Engineering, the contest is open to engineers, educators, and designers in the United States. The major prize of the pack is the Mojo Desktop Printer, part of the Stratasys Idea Series.

The entire Sweepstakes prize includes the desktop 3D printer, a startup supply of materials and bases, the Mojo Print Wizard, Control Panel Software, and WaveWash 55 support removal system. The Mojo 3D printer uses Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM) and provides an easy replacement system for its ABSplus thermoplastic material. Mojo promises to provide accurate and functional concept models for rapid prototyping. It is an impressive starter kit and will have an immediate impact on Joe’s business and household.

STRATASYS MOJO DESKTOP 3D PRINT PACK

Lutgen’s RSI Mechanical LLC, based out of Costa Mesa, California, habitually uses 3D printing to conceptualize designs in the medical device, aerospace and automotive sectors. The outsourcing for the 3D printing could take longer than Lutgen liked, however, especially in such a rapid and high demand business. Now, with 3D printing in-house, RSI is all set to drastically cut production times with the Mojo, which will also allow easier adjustments on designs. As Joe says, “I will use the 3D printer to speed up the process by bringing it in-house. I’m marketing the company’s new capability as described by the Mojo tagline: ‘The printer is an idea engine.’ Now I have no excuses but to create.”

One of the side benefits stemming from the Sweepstakes win is the use of the Mojo printer at home. Joe hopes to let his family dive into the hands-on experience with the prize pack to foster creativity and familiarity with the process. Joe’s now in receipt of the Mojo, so let’s see where he takes it.
