The Lulzbot TAZ Workhorse 3D printer – technical specifications and pricing

Colorado-based 3D printer manufacturer Aleph Objects has released a new successor to the Lulzbot TAZ 6: the TAZ Workhorse Edition.

With a build volume 14% larger than the TAZ 6 and a new belt-driven Z-axis, the TAZ Workhorse promises to deliver bigger, faster, and higher quality 3D prints. Steven Abadie, CTO of Aleph Objects comments, “People have been using TAZ 3D printers as tools in the most demanding environments.”

Eric Beardslee, Product Marketing Manager at Aleph Objects, adds:

“Tens of thousands of users and industry analysts worldwide nicknamed TAZ the ‘Workhorse.’ Since it earned the name, we decided to own it.”

The LulzBot TAZ Workhorse Edition

The TAZ Workhorse Edition follows seven iterations over a six-year span of the LulzBot TAZ range, following the LulzBot TAZ Pro model released earlier this year.

The machine includes new developments based on feedback from the TAZ’s military user base, as explained by Abadie, “With the TAZ Workhorse Edition, we gathered feedback from users in these conditions and added upgrades such as a reinforced frame and sturdier electrical connectors for unparalleled durability, while improving upon the already impressive print quality.”

Separating itself from its previous models, the TAZ Workhorse features a lightweight Hardened Steel E3D Titan Aero hotend and extruder. This includes a Hobb-Goblin 5mm ID Drive Gear made from stainless steel which is said to deliver superior overhang and bridge performance.

Additionally, the TAZ Workhorse has been equipped with an automatic X/Y/Z backlash compensation feature for improved print accuracy.
