Aleph Objects, Colorado-based manufacturer of the LulzBot brand of 3D Printers, has announced its first-ever industrial desktop 3D printer, the LulzBot TAZ Pro.
The TAZ Pro is capable of dual-material 3D printing and creates large functional parts with a build volume of 280 x 280 x 285 mm and a heated build plate. Grant Flaharty, CEO and President of Aleph Objects, stated:
“The TAZ Pro is the first true multiple-material 3D printer with dual linear actuated hot ends at a prosumer price point.”
The Lulzbot TAZ Pro
The TAZ Pro integrates hardened steel E3D components, including independent vertical lifting hotends with 360-degree part cooling, to 3D print industrial-grade composites. The multiple material capabilities are also able to produce models with both flexible and low Shore A hardness (i.e., 85A) in the same print.
According to Aleph Objects, it is due to the hardened-steel components of the TAZ Pro that such polymers and high-heat composites can be additively manufactured; these materials which can be soluble, conductive, high strength, and chemically-resistant are said to be too abrasive for typical “out-of-the-box desktop 3D printers”.
Additionally, a Z-axis belt drive is included in the TAZ Pro to deliver faster cycle times and a quicker throughput. As a result, a reduction of Z wobble through the belt drive as well as new X/Y/Z backlash compensation improves part quality and accuracy. Dual filament run-out sensors are also present to alert the user when a new filament reel is needed.
The TAZ Pro has been enhanced with greater processing power and memory for complex parts, and added functionalities with improved visibility from a new 5” full-color touch screen. This includes an automated X/Y/Z offset calibration, nozzle wiping, and self-leveling features.
Aleph Objects plans to launch the next generation large desktop 3D printer to upgrade the widely-acclaimed TAZ 6 on May 1.
