NVBots Raises $2 Million in Seed Funding to Expand 3D Printing Initiatives

As the Boston-based 3D printing startup pushes out their cloud-based, queue-based 3D printers, NVBots has just raised $2 million in seed funding, with investors that include Bantam Capital and Mike Foley, the former CEO of reflective materials company Reflexite Corp. Foley will join NVBots’ board of directors, and the team at NVBots are happy to have him aboard.

NVBots CEO AJ Perez remarked, “His expertise in this domain will add significant value to the growth of our business. We expect that Mike will continue to add value not just as a seasoned manufacturing executive but also by opening doors to new capital markets.”

NVBots notably manufactures an institution-friendly 3D printer capable of automatically removing prints from the printbed, allowing for institution-wide 3D printing from the cloud. With the funding, they hope to grow to 25 employees, from their current 12.  As their business expands, they will need the extra hands to support business and product development. If you are looking to join them, NVBots is hiring sales, operations, finance, manufacturing and technology professionals.

NVBots (New Valence Robotics) is based in Boston’s Innovation District and was founded by Perez as a graduate student at MIT. The company recently delivered its first reward from their successful crowdfunding campaign, working with non-profit Citizen Schools to bring NVBot 3D printers along with their 3D printing curriculum (Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards compliant) to middle schools and high schools.  To learn more about the startup, check out this great interview that 3DPI Editor Michael Molitch-Hou conducted with NVBots CEO AJ Perez.
