Ultimaker Teams with 3DPrinterOS to Offer Free 3D Printing Classes in the US

The Dutch 3D printer manufacturer, that has recently expanded its reach into the US, has teamed up with 3DprinterOS to offer free 3D printing classes in New York City and San Francisco. The idea is to offer people who are completely new to the technology a first approach to the terminology, processes, materials and applications that relate to all aspects of 3D printing.

Co-founded by John Dogru, 3DprinterOS is a cloud based operating system which lets users control multiple 3D printers from a single, remote, interface. The company has been organizing these free classes in NY with the support of the local Shapeways branch, the Brooklyn Public Library, and Foxsmart Filament. Together with Ultimaker, 3DPrinterOS will work to share information to help inspire and educate the next generation of Makers.

In the near future, the classes will also be taken online to globally expand access to 3D printing education. In addition to their operating system, users will be able to learn how 3D printing works, access walkthroughs for specific printers, and learn the basics of 3D printer repair. “We’ve seen tremendous interest in these classes in the past few months in New York, people want to learn about 3D printing and ask questions about how this technology could change their lives,” Dogru says. “Collaborating with Ultimaker for these classes gives our audience the ability to see 3D printing in action on some of the best machines in the world.”
