3D Printing

Versoteq Expands the 3D Printed Customizables Marketplace

Versoteq is a Finnish company that, in addition to offering spare part replacement services with 3D scanning and 3D printing, allows users to customize 3D printed items for purchase. Being new, their collection is still a bit limited, but the potential is there. At the moment, Versoteq offers things like signs and tags on which you can 3D print text or your own image. For instance, I created this virtual coin to be 3D printed in matte gold steel at 40 mm in diameter, with my website’s logo on the front and the word “NO!” on the back (text on the coin is limited to three characters).

Though I seriously considered ordering this coin for a minute, Versoteq has a few, more practical items. One simple item, that may be useful for your garden, is a 3D-printed sign on which you can have text written, like “Tomatoes”, “Beets”, or, as I chose, “Hail Seitan”.  They’ve also designed a wine tag to personalize your glass at a party. In printing the little band that wraps around your wine glass, you’re given the option of printing six characters of text, as well as cute symbols like hearts, stars, or even little doggy heads.  You can chose to do both text and symbols, but, at least on the computer, it’s difficult to read “Mike” as layered onto the doggy heads.  See my name in doggies below:

Versoteq is obviously not the first site to give customers the chance to customize a series of 3D printed products, but its existence is a sign that it’s clearly not the last site either.  Aside from Mixee Labs and Dyo, we’re likely to see more and more entrepreneurs take advantage of 3D printing’s ability to tailor items specifically to the individual. Because Versoteq seems to be staffed by experienced individuals, it’s possible that their customizables selection will grow, as well as their services.
