Students Rejoice! 3D Hubs Now Offering Discounted Prints with Student Program

College is a pivotal experience in the lives of many, and in regard to 3D printing technology, there’s a lot of experimentation and innovation happening behind the dormitory walls, as well. Whether it’s the TU Delft students building a 3D printer from K’NEX or Ghent University students 3D printing a robotic scorpion with an autonomous stinger, universities across the world are helping students find their inner Maker. Now, 3D Hubs is attempting to provide these college students with even more access to 3D printing technology, and with today’s launch of their new Student Program.

The Student Program will provide all applicable university students with a 25% discount on their selected 3D prints, making the 3D Hubs platform a more affordable and accessible service for those still in studies. According to 3D Hubs, the discount will apply to all ordered 3D prints, regardless of the material used or difficulty of the 3D model. Though, at this point, there are a number of universities equipped with 3D printing technology of their own, 3D Hubs is more than aware of the 3D printer waiting lines and tight deadlines that students often face. With the 3D Hubs Student Program, however, students will now have fast and affordable access to a 3D printing service provider close to campus.

“For most students, there’s only limited possibility to access the latest 3D printing technology at campus. Especially during project deadlines, waiting lines can be as long as weeks or machines are unavailable completely,” said Filemon Schoffer, the Head of Community at 3D Hubs. “Together with participating Universities and a few dozen 3D Hubs Student Ambassadors, we aim to solve this by connecting them to fast, affordable 3D printing services near campus.”

If you’re a college student looking to get in on the Student Program, you can sign up today! After going to the 3D Hubs’ Student Program sign-up page, enter the University email address to verify yourself for the program. Once verification is complete, you’re all set to order 3D prints at the fixed discounted rate of 25%, automatically applied through the student checkout. The new program stands to help a lot of students gain more access to, and thus, a better understanding of 3D printing technology, especially for students involved with STEAM programs. These STEAM-based students can utilize their 3D Hubs discount to help build and enhance their educationally-driven hardware projects. On the flip side, perhaps Hubs that are located around University campuses will see a boom in business, and maybe even a more integrated 3D printing community overall.
