Simplify3D Adds New Features and 3D Printing Support for the Dremel Idea Builder

Simplify3D has updated its popular 3D printing software, expanding its capabilities and support for an even greater number of 3D printers, including the new Dremel Idea Builder and the Moment 3D printer, previously covered through our Korea-based reporters.

The latest update to Simplify3D sees greater control over spacing between inter-locking parts, as well as more efficient tool paths for 3D printers.  The former may prove essential for 3D printing complex, moving objects.  With FDM/FFF 3D printers, particularly without soluble support material, plastic deposition can sometimes prove clunky, fusing interlocking parts together.  With the software’s new feature, the tolerances between parts can now be tightened or loosened based on a user’s design needs.  On top of this, the software’s ability to generate more efficient tool paths is designed to speed up print time.

The new features of Simplify3D have been made accessible to an even greater number of printers, as well.  The Dremel Idea Builder was announced by the tool manufacturer last year and soon found its way into Home Depot stores.  Quickly jumping on the new machine and its accompanying audience, Simplify3D made their software compatible with the Idea Builder and posted a guide on how to set up the software to use with Dremel’s hardware.  The company is also jumping on Moment, a 3D printer manufacturer based out of Korea and covered by our Korean team on several occasions. Through a partnership with the young company, Simplify3D has integrated support for the Moment 3D printer.

The software is constantly being developed and, so, will see some more developments in the near future.  If you’re a Simplify3D user who would be interested in writing a review of the software, please let us know!
