Faberdashery’s 25 Days of Making Counts Down ‘Til Christmas

To best celebrate the holiday season, and to bring in some holiday cash, 3D printer manufacturers, service bureaux and material suppliers are putting up their Christmas decorations, made up of sales, promos and marketing campaigns. To advertise their Winter Wonder Pack, an impressive array of 10 coloured filaments in one package, UK-based Faberdashery is hosting its 25 Days of Making.

Icicle 3D PrintingEvery day leading up to Christmas, the material and service provider will be posting designs on Thingiverse and YouMagine that might make great gifts or stocking stuffers for the holiday. The .stl files posted so far are pretty sleek looking, particularly the icicle made for Day 6 of the Advent Calendar, but what’s great about the campaign is that the objects being posted are meant to be printable in under an hour and can be fabricated on even the smallest of print platforms.

The company’s Creative Director, Clare Cunningham, hopes that Making around the holidays will bring families together, saying, “Faberdashery has always been about inspiring creativity in digital manufacturing. Christmas is a great time for sharing some fabbing love with friends and family! We hope people will take the opportunity to sit down with loved ones and make together.

So far, Faberdashery has created some neat stuff, such as a garland made of beads that snap together, a coaster shaped like a snowflake, a dreidel and a twisted little ornament. Either I’m actually pretty impressed with what they’re doing for the holidays, including the colours offered by the filament pack, or the approaching holiday is making me feel all warmy and fuzzy inside. I can’t wait to see what they post on Christmas day! I hope it’s a duck!
