UZATA Publishes 1st Monthly Trends Report on Used Professional 3D Printers

UZATA.com, the first on-line catalog selling used professional 3D printers, has unveiled its first monthly report, bringing a unique spectrum of information on this market. The report covers data gathered in June 2015 and concerns only high-end, professional machines from such producers as Stratasys, 3D Systems, and EnvisionTEC. This is an interesting addition to the data offered by large research agencies like Gartner, as well as 3D Hubs, which covers trends occurring among the users in its distributed manufacturing community.

Uzata.com used 3D pritner report June 2015Without surprise, the most popular machines on the secondary market of professional 3D printers are the ones produced by the leading companies in the 3D printing industry – 3D Systems and Stratasys. Their machines covered almost 60% of all offers in June. What’s more, the third place is held by ZCorp, who, in a matter of fact, has been part of 3D Systems for several years, leaving their older machines on the secondary market. EnvisionTEC, EOS, Roland and relatively little-known company Kiro, occupy the next set of positions in the ranking.

69% of offers for professional 3D printers come from the US, 27% from Europe, and only 5% from Asia and Australia. It is a very interesting observation, because it confirms that the most developed market in the world for 3D printing is its cradle – the United States. The only question is whether companies want to sell their 3D printing machines in order to buy new ones, because they don`t need them anymore, or that the 3D printing technology did not meet their initial expectations?

If we look at the offers by continents, most users from North America want to sell Stratasys products (43%), while, in Europe, it is 3D Systems (55%). The full coverage of report can be seen on the right.

UZATA.com is the very first catalog of used professional 3D printers. The website gathers all offers from around the globe, mainly from eBay, and puts them in one place, saving users time that might be spent searching the web individually. The name “UZATA” comes from Esperanto meaning “used” and every single 3D printer on the website is a slightly used machine that is being sold somewhere on the web. UZATA allows sellers to create a classified ad that can be linked to UZATA’s selling platform. And, just as 3D Hubs and, more recently, YouMagine, has taken advantage of their platforms to generate useful data for the industry, UZATA will continue to publish its own reports on a monthly basis.
