The Rubik's Cube Made Kid-Friendly with 3D Printing

At French 3D printing marketplace Cults, Fossil product designer Emmanuel Carillo has published his designs for a simple and kid-friendly Rubik’s-style cube. While at the University of Cincinnati, Carillo wanted to present the fun and brain-expanding powers of the Rubik’s Cube to kids with a cute design.  The result is the Ozo Bear, a twistable puzzle for the young and puzzle-frustrated alike.

Carillo first simplified the Rubik’s Cube by reducing the number of individual panel pieces from 9 x 9 x 9 to 2 x 3 x 6.  Then, he converted the colored blocks to a cartoony bear shape.

Altogether, Carillo proves that he is designer, engineer, and factory all rolled into one. The files for the Ozo Bear puzzle are free at Cults, so you can make one yourself!
