3D Artist Adds Another Chapter to the History of Sir Drake’s Golden Hind

The incredibly successful history of the Golden Hind, the ship that Sir Francis Drake used to circumnavigate the globe and pirate Spanish treasures for Queen Elizabeth I (and other investors), can now live on through to the digital manufacturing age thanks to Maurizio Casella’s latest amazing 3D printed creation.

Divided into 4 main parts with a full length of 45 cm, the 3D printed Golden Hind replicates the original and is composed of hundreds of small parts to be 3D printed and assembled. Like other models from Maurizio Casella, which include cars, motorcycles and planes, it will be available for purchase from the most popular 3D model marketplaces, which you can reach from his 3D PRINT Facebook page.

After circumnavigating the globe and stealing so much treasure to enable the Queen to entirely pay off her country’s foreign debt (if only that were possible today), the Golden Hind became the very first ship to be exhibited for show in Deptford for almost a century. During the 1900’s, many more replicas were created and are still exhibited to this day, but with Maurizio Casella’s 3D model, you can make it your very own, and I bet learning about XVI Century naval voyages will have an entirely different appeal.
