A Knuckie is a cool, 3D printable phone stand with a twist – or, make that a spin. The simple phone stand and handle attaches to the back of your smartphone and, with a design similar to brass knuckles, provides a way to easily and comfortably grip your phone. Not only can this help save your phone from broken or shattered screens, by helping to prevent accidental phone drops, but it doubles as a phone stand for watching videos.
The Knuckie works by attaching to the back of your smartphone using a powerful adhesive tape that keeps it firmly in place. Once attached, you can spin and twirl your phone to heart’s content, without worrying about it slipping out of your hands. And, while spinning and phone twirling is great fun, the Knuckie also looks useful for keeping a firm grip on your phone with full arms or while jogging and working out.
You can either purchase a complete Knuckie that has already been 3D printed or assembled for only $24.99. Or you can purchase the downloadable files for $13.99 and assemble a Knuckie yourself. However, if you decide to make your own, you will need to purchase your own industrial adhesive stickers and a skateboard bearing. Or, if you’re a do it yourself kind of person, you can download the STL files directly from Shapeways and print it in any color or material that you want. While the design may look a little goofy at first, after watching it in action, it seems like it will be a klutzy phone owner’s best friend. And the manufacturers promise that, once you’ve used it, you will never be able to have a phone without one again.
