Things3D has already begun taking the lead in 3D printed marketing, creating a series of 3D printable characters from Aardman Studios and working to create 3D printable tie-ins to video games. Their Ownerchip technology allows customers to register their ownership with the 3D printed figurines and opens the doors to a variety of potential smartphone or tablet apps that can be used with their products. Today, in what can only be categorized as “Hunk News”, Things3D and David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff announced a new partnership surrounding a new product they’re calling Smartselfies.
At the IAB conference in London, The Hoff explained that he would be creating personalized 3D printed selfies for fans. The details surrounding the new product are still sparse, but we know that fans will be able to order a “Smart” 3D print of themselves with their Baywatch Beau, utilizing Things3D’s Ownerchip and t3Dsecure platform. Needless to say, The Hoff is excited, as you can see from the photo he posted on Twitter:
Also needless to say, this product will surely prove my time-tested theory that the Germans love David Hasselhoff.
