The days of flimsy, bulky wallets made from dead cow skin are over. The days of compact, sturdy wallets made from durable materials are here. I say this because I have one and the combination money clip and card holder is better than any leather wallet I’ve ever owned. Because of its slim design, I’m forced to keep the crap I carry in it to a minimum and maintain only the essentials. What I don’t have, though, is a Wabo, a portmanteau of “wallet” and “bottle opener”. Wabo, which looks to beat out my, now obsolete, wallet with the addition of a carbon fiber bottle opener is now available on Kickstarter.
In the cute campaign video below, you’ll get a look at Wabo, but the specifics are something reserved for the Kickstarter page itself. Wabo is a card holder, capable of holding up to five cards in addition to the carbon fiber bottle opener that covers its opening. 3D printed by Sculpteo, each Wabo is customized by color and personalized text for every KS backer. For $29, it’s not too bad a price, but if you’re mostly interested in a card-shaped bottle opener, you can purchase the beer-lover’s tool for $14.
The KS campaign suggests that Wabo may be ideal for camping, heading to the beach, and other such activities where you’ll want to keep all of your cards in one place and, of course, the bottle opener within reach, but if you’re carrying a bottle opener and a wallet in your pocket all of the time anyway, Wabo may be a good way to kill two birds with one stone.
