World's 1st 3D Food Printing Conference Launches April 21

Some may be excited for 3D Print Week, hitting New York City next week, but something even more savory will be taking place in the Netherlands on April 21: the 3D Food Printing Conference.  As far as I’m aware, this is the first conference devoted entirely to the art and science of 3D printing food.

Every nook and cranny of the day will be filled with delicious discussions on 3D food printing, led by numerous players in the industry.  Food printing pioneer, Jeffrey Lipton, one of individuals behind the Fab@Home 3D printer, will be there to discuss his company, Seraph Robotics, and his research in the field.  Sugar printing guru Julian Sing will be there to discuss his work on 3dchef. CTO of Robots in Gastronomy, Luis E. Fraguada, will discuss the future of the technology. Prof. Mark J. Post, Chair of Physiology at Maastricht University, will be covering one of the topics most exciting to me personally, that of 3D printing meat with bovine stem cells.  And what food printing conference would be complete without a representative from Dutch research institute and food printing innovator TNO? Pieter Debrauwer, Project Manager at TNO, will be covering the company’s research into 3D printing personally-tailored meals for the elderly.

That’s only about half of the speakers that will be present at the 3D Food Printing Conference at the Innovatoren in Venlo, The Netherlands. Moreover, this conference is only one in a larger series that’s being hosted by Dutch tech event organizer Jakajima.  Previously, the firm held exciting conferences on bioprinting and electronics printing and, after the food printing event kicks off, they’ll also be providing a conference entirely devoted to design and engineering in 3D printing.

Though I’ve got tickets to these two events, I’m all the way in the United States and won’t be able to attend, so if anyone in the region would like to cover the events for us, please let me know! I would be super grateful and jealous, as they should prove to be quite exciting and informative. Otherwise, you can register for the event here.
