Industrial design student and artist András Bódy recently uploaded pictures of an awesome 3D printed concept car to art and design website Behance. The images of his electric car concept called Jenifer 1 are taken from his Master of Arts in Design thesis project on future 3D printed car technology.
Bódy graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Product Design Engineering from Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 2012, where he learned graphic design, photography, and computer design. Now, he has moved on to the Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti in Milan, where he is currently seeking his Masters of Arts in Product Design. As a final project, he was tasked with the objective to create a vehicle concept showing the future of the automotive industry and explore how 3D printing can be utilised in car production.
The shape and form of Bódy’s concept car is based on that of a wolf skull, because, when I think of aerodynamics I think of wolf skulls. Joking aside, the shape does lend itself quite well to a dynamic-looking vehicle, and it is a subtle enough nod that it is doubtful that anyone would even notice the quirky inspiration. And the car itself looks really cool, and not so concept-y that it isn’t something that would look out of place on the road today.
The Jenifer concept car is intended to be a completely electric station wagon, and despite its streamlined design it is meant to be a family car. The body and frame of the car would be constructed from entirely 3D printed parts. Part of Bódy’s thesis project includes a draft production and business plan on how the car would be manufactured, but unfortunately that wasn’t placed online with his photographs. I see a lot of concept cars in this job, so it would have been interesting to see how Bódy envisioned a car like this being produced. You can see the entire Jenifer Concept Car on Behance, and you can read more about Bódy and all of his cool design projects on his website.
