Who will be i.materialise’s first 3D Printing Designer of the Year?

Design Award 2013 i.materialise2013 will see i.materialise initiate a Designer of the Year Award open to all of the designers the high-end 3D printing service has collaborated with on projects past and present.

imaterialise’s community manager, Tatiana de Wee explains: “We see so many nice designs in our gallery, on our forum and even in our e-mail inboxes that we want to help to recognise those individuals who have embraced 3D printing. We’re looking for the most inspirational designer, maker or hobbyist. Someone who is passionate about 3D printing, embraces the 3D printing revolution and carries out 3D printing in the very best way.”

The ‘Designer of the Year Award’ will put designers, who show great talent and promise, in the spotlight. The jury, which is headed up by Materialise’s CEO Fried Vancraen will select the top three designers in October. Each of the three finalists will by featured on the imaterialise blog in November before an eventual winner will be selected and announced in time for Christmas on 22nd December.

On the jury panel, Fried will be joined by Jesse Harrington, Maker Advocate of AUTODESK
; Eric Weinhoffer, product development engineer at MAKE
; and Alain Gilles, Designer of the Year 2012 at the ‘International Design Biennale’ in Belgium.

The winner will receive some nice Xmas presents as a result of their success, including a 200 Euro i.materialise 3D printing voucher for the 3D Printlab; an Instructables Pro account for a year
; a one-year Autodesk 123D Premium Membership; and a one-year subscription to MAKE Magazine. The runners up won’t do too badly either, they’ll get a subscription to MAKE magazine, including the second edition of MAKE’s Ultimate Guide to 3D Printing
 and a 50 Euro i.materialise 3D printing voucher.
