Trindo Breaks Out First Ever 3D Printed Trade Show Booth

Though we have witnessed a number of innovative 3D printed prototypes and products, many of which have been displayed in the exhibition booths of the many 3D printing trade shows that are now being held all around the world, we have yet to see an exhibition booth quite like the one Trindo GmbH has just created. Built for Düsseldorf’s Viscom trade show, which took place between November 4-6 of this year, the Munich-based 3D printing agency constructed the world’s first 3D printed exhibition booth made completely out of sand-based material. The Viscom exhibition was originally founded to showcase Europe’s most innovative techniques of ‘visual communication’, and Trindo’s 3D printed trade booth definitely had a lot to say!

In collaboration with the German-based Clormann Design Team, Trindo GmbH set out to design and manufacture a booth that could never be dreamed of with traditional manufacturing techniques. Using a combination of organic design and Voronoi patterns, the team was able to produce a one-of-a-kind trade show exhibition that held a certain complexity and beauty that resembles a massive coral reef (which ties in well with the sand material it was composed of). Within the uniquely designed 3D printed booth were eight illuminated displays, two tables, and a number of aesthetically pleasing wall modules, as well. By using 3D design and printing, these additional components were able to be perfectly implemented and matched the aesthetic of the booth to a ‘t’.

“This project was the ideal way for us to demonstrate that additive manufacturing will soon be revolutionizing areas such as display and exhibition technology as well as interior design. This milestone confirms our vision,” says Trindo GmbH CEO Bennet Klein. “We’re more than satisfied with the show’s success as well as the unbelievably positive and manifold feedback we’ve received.”

The booth was able to be completed thanks to the loan offer from partnering interior design firm Baumgärtner Einrichtungen GmbH. Though the booth itself was able to be quickly assembled and dismantled, the display pieces and larger additive components that acted as the foundation for these displays are reportedly quite heavy and expensive to manufacture. But Trindo’s Viscom trade show booth was among the most unique 3D printing displays I’ve seen in quite a while, and I’m just talking about the booth alone! Although the large-scale sand print isn’t the most affordable option for a trade show booth, Trindo is continuing their research on how these materials can be efficiently used for what Trindo CTO Simon Salowsky calls “XXL 3D printing”. Their 3D printed trade show booth certainly proves that the German 3D printing agency is on the right path to making their one-of-a-kind booth into an affordable, efficient, and uniquely designed display platform for any trade show or exhibition!
