Some of the latest 3D printed developments in fashion design, film props and automotive and aerospace engineering will be on show for an exciting workshop for teens at the Royal Institute in London, UK. Harry Potter and Iron Man are just two of the movies that used props created by 3D printing. In an exciting workshop with Chris Bradley and Stan McCarthy, students will get a chance to try 3D printing for themselves and to explore how to bring together creative design and cutting-edge engineering to develop and print a 3D object from their own imagination.

Speaker Chris Bradley has a degree in Digital Art and Technology and is a multi-disciplined digital developer and designer. Mr Bradley enjoys producing art through technology and in recent years has produced an eclectic selection of installations, applications and websites. Chris also enjoys inspiring others through teaching one-day courses about computer coding.

Joining Chris is speaker Stan McCarthy, a Senior Electronics Engineer for British Aerospace in Weybridge before moving to engineering sales. Mr. McCarthy has a breadth and wealth of experience in working with young people to aid their enjoyment and understanding of the potential of 3D printing, plus the many interesting uses for the set of technologies in the disciplines of aerospace manufacturing, the motor industry, medicine and fashion.

The event is to be held at the Royal Institution’s Faraday Museum21 Albemarle St, London W1S 4BS. The workshop is strictly for those aged 13 to 15 years and will include a forty-five minute supervised lunch break. Students should bring lunch and a drink and are welcome to bring USB memory sticks to save their work.
