The current exhibition involving 3D printing is organized under the supervision of Fablab Shibuya and provides a survey of the history of 3D printers. On display are models and printing equipment. The exhibition hopes to provide not just background but working knowledge on 3D printing. With a collection including metal jewellery, rubber-like models, and multicolour sculptures, the museum aims to enlighten and astound. The “3D Printing World” exhibition opened March 11th and will run until the first of June. Admission is free, so if in town, there is no justified reason to miss the opportunity.

Marketing specialist at i.materialise Japan, Tsuyoshi Kobayashi remarked, “Toppan is one of the largest global 2D printing companies. The fact that they also show an interest in 3D printing proves that organizations are increasingly realizing the benefits offered by this new technology. Not only with regard to everyday objects but for a variety of products including jewellery and art objects.”

Printing has come a long way, yet it continues to hold one innate quality at its core regardless of the dimensions printed. Printing, the technology, the action, and the driving spirit, is revolutionary. By its very nature, it shares and spreads ideas and at the Tokyo exhibition, any visitor can witness the growth and development of printing.
