New M3 Blueprinter Features SHS 3D Printing Technology

The next generation of the Blueprinter is here. The Danish 3D printing innovators that brought us the successful M-series has just released their Blueprinter M3 3D printer. The new printer is quiet and user friendly and features an increased build model from previous M-printers and has a sleeker look. The M3 is perfect for daily use in an office, like any standard desktop-printer it aims to make printing simple for users.

The Blueprinter M3 stays true inside and out to the popular original M-series design, while offering a few new key features meant to optimize user experience. The M3 features new powder drawers and has new improved  mechanisms for powder shovels installed. The M3 is capable of printing more accurate, detailed and larger parts, since Blueprint decided to increase the build volume on this model to 200mm x 157mm x 150mm. What this means is that the M3 is capable of printing multiple parts in one session. According to Blueprint, the noise of those printing sessions will be reduced sixty percent when using their latest 3D printer.

The name of the technology that the M3 uses has been dubbed “Selective Heat Sintering” by the company.  Basically, the main difference between this and SLS technology is that the M3 uses a thermal printhead rather than the laser.  Applying layers of thermoplastic powder in the build chamber, the thermal printhead is capable of fabricating complicating geometries with a wall thickness of 1 mm.

After a print or series of prints are finished, the build chamber of the M3 can be removed, cleaned and reset in just a few minutes.   The price is prohibitive for most users, but certain businesses will be able to afford $28,000, which includes 12 kilograms of M-Flex powder, the M3 printer, and the cleaning station.  But most will not be able to afford this printer.

The Blueprinter M3 uses web based software for all of their printers so that is easy for anyone from engineers to hobbyists to start printing.
