Moedls 3D Scanner Hits Kickstarter

Moedls – the new, consumer-friendly 3D scanner concept that we reported on last month — has gone live on Kickstarter. With the strapline “3D Scanning for Everyone” the campaign is seeking to raise $105,000 in funding, and has achieved about 10% of that through day 1. The signs are good then.

The campaign also gives a little more clarity on the pricing and availability of the Moedls packages that are available, although as with most Kickstarter campaigns, the price is likely to go up later.

Prices start at $199 for a ‘Junior Scanner’, and includes the standard Moedls platform with phone holder, red laser, two suction cup mounts and the Zombie shooter cup. This is the price for early backers (there are 50 options at this price level) and one imagines it is to, well, kick start the campaign. Delivery of these 50 units is scheduled for July this year. After the first 50, the price rises to $249 for the same package, with delivery scheduled for August.

There are also options for an advanced scanner and a professional scanner working on the same principle. The advanced scanner ($299/$349) includes the package described above with the addition of a green laser and an extra suction cup. The professional scanner ($449/$499) utilizes ‘pro red and green lasers’, (which probably means higher quality?).
