Sustainable farming project Logro Farms was established through a successful Kickstarter in 2013, seeing success in their local town of Austin with gourmet mushrooms, hyrdoponic systems, and more. Now that they’ve achieved acclaim for their urban farming and eco-friendly products, founders Ryan Sansbury and Jeremy Bastian are returning to Kickstarter once more, this time with a series of 3D printed planters they call 3D Growers.
Over on Kickstarter, Ryan and Jeremy are pitching their idea for a 3D printable database of planters. The pots vary in just about every way, from wearable planters to hanging pots in different colors and sizes. Ryan Sansbury elaborates on the purpose for the project, “The idea for 3D Growers actually came out of feedback from our customers. They loved our grow-at-home style products, but they were eager for more personalization and a wider selection of plants. So, we listened and created 3D Growers by combining the latest developments in 3D printing, home gardening, and creative design into a unique new product line.”
By backing the campaign, customers are able to select a variety of planters that differ in terms of size, color, and material. The filament range includes nylons, plastics, and recycled filaments made from coffee grounds. Along with the pots, customers can purchase Logro’s Grow Packs for herbs, mushrooms, and microgreens. With the success of the project, Logro Farms hopes to purchase a large-scale 3D printer for increased production. And they’re only asking for $12,000 to do so.
