Investing in 3D Printing Shows Immediate Profits for Groupe Gorge

French Industrial Manufacturer Groupe Gorge reported first half year revenue was up 3% overall from $132 million to $136 million. While most of their company divisions showed increases their new 3D printing division has already shown a significant profit despite being little more than a year old.

In May of 2013 Groupe Gorge acquired 3D printing company Phidias Technologies and promptly changed the company name to Prodways. Within the first six months the company brought in over $1.5 million in profits. Then last May Groupe Gorge acquired DeltaMed, a fifteen-year veteran of developing photosensitive resins with applications in the hearing aid, medical and dental sectors. Prodways debuted some new 3D printers in late 2013 and now they are looking to bundle those new 3D printers with DeltaMed resins, offering customers machine/material combinations tailored to specific customer needs and budgets.

Here’s a brief video of Prodways founder and Andre-Luc Allanic talking about their newly patented Moving DLP technology:

Prodways produces high-resolution DLP professional grade 3D printers and their primary market is Germany and Europe. Their MOVINGLight technology combines moving DLP and UVA LED, a process that, according to the company, increases the speed and accuracy of the polymerization reaction, creating a higher detailed model than standard DLP 3D printers are capable of without increasing price or print time. Printers using this process can expect more than half a billion pixels per layer, and the process is compatible with composite and hybrid materials as well as biocompatible materials.

Currently the company is reporting a total of seven 3D printers sold in the first six months, but with the new 3D printer models unveiled late last year and the acquisition of Deltamed, Groupe Gorge is predicting even more impressive sales numbers by the end of the next six months.
