Fuel3D Labs Unveils 3D Scanning Booth Partnership with 3DplusMe

After spending the first year on seeking funds and developing its SCANIFY 3D scanner and, the second year on launching it, now it is time for Fuel3D to work on pushing the adoption of its unique 3D scanning technology through collaboration with strategic partners. That is the goal of the recently established Fuel3D Labs division, which works with partners who want to implement its PELLEGO low-cost and ultra-fast 3D scanning platform. That is also the essence of the new deal singed with 3DplusMe, unveiled at the SIGGRAPH trade show and conference, taking place now at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

We are very excited to be working with an innovative company like 3DplusMe, who have some incredible partnerships with some of the world’s leading sporting and entertainment brands,” said Stuart Mead, CEO at Fuel3D Labs. “The technology that underpins our SCANIFY product is highly adaptable and configurable to suit a wide range of applications and we look forward to revealing more of our exciting engagements in due course.

For those not yet familiar with it, 3DplusMe was one of the first companies in the US to create a transportable, fast and easily accessible booth to create personalized 3D printed action figures based on some of the most popular sport and entertainment brands. To further accelerate the process, the 3DplusMe action figures simply apply a full color 3D printed face on a standard pre-produced body or armor. This is why Fuel3D’s cost-effective technology, which captures a high-resolution, color 3D scan of a face in less than a tenth of a second, is a perfect fit. It will be integrated into 3DplusMe’s SaaS platform to make the 3D image capturing process even faster and more accurate.

Our partnership with Fuel3D provides access to best-of-breed capabilities, including instant capture and stunning spatial resolution in a compact device,” said Tom Ngo, CTO at 3DPlusMe. “When fans experience 3DplusMe to become their favorite superheroes or athletes, this translates into a spontaneous, social encounter, which can help companies deepen their brand engagement with customers.”

This among the first implementations to be publicly announced by Fuel3D Labs, which leverages advanced 3D scanning technologies to develop new products for companies that want to harness the potential of fast and cost-effective 3D imaging in their business. Judging by the rapid growth of 3D scanning activities worldwide, it won’t be the last.
