Farsoon Technologies, a manufacturer of SLM and SLS 3D printers is expanding into Europe with a new subsidiary based in Germany.

Another expansion for Farsoon

Shanghai-based Farsoon expanded into North America last year, opening a new Demo and Integration Center near Austin, Texas. A continued expansion into Europe signals the company’s desire to meet the demand for the sort of systems it produces.

The company’s forthcoming FS1000P 3D printer, with its large build volume of 1000 mm x 500 mm x 500 mm will feature Continuous Additive Manufacturing Solution (CAMS) technology and is set to launch at the TCT Asia Show from 1-3 March 2018.

The CAMS system will include automated post-processing technology from the UK-based Additive Manufacturing Technologies, and like the rest of Farsoon’s systems, it will use metal powder produced by Swiss materials company Oerlikon.

Talent from BASF to head up Europe operations

Dirk Simon who will be managing Farsoon’s European business comes from BASF, where he served as 3D printing Business Director, and was part of the German company’s transformation of its New Business GmbH subsidiary into 3D Printing Solutions GmbH.

BASF is also a key materials provider for Farsoon’s open 3D printer systems, especially in the manufacturing of polymer powders for SLS 3D printing which are compatible with the machines.

Xu Xiaoshu, chairman of Farsoon Technologies stated:

“Europe is central to the growth of additive manufacturing. Farsoon is eager to work with and support the growing market here and we are very happy to have someone with the experience and integrity of Dirk Simon be our representative.”

Volker Hammes, Managing Director of BASF 3D Printing Solutions GmbH added, “we encourage Farsoon in its expansion to Europe for industrializing 3D-Printing and continue to support the company in selling machines open for use of high-performance BASF materials.”
