Since 2014, Dutch Filaments has supplied 3D printing filament through private label arrangements to many well-known 3D printing companies.

Now, Dutch Filaments will expand its market position thanks to the acquisition by Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers Europe B.V.

Richard Luiken, co-founder at Dutch Filaments, said, “With the support of Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers Europe B.V. Dutch Filaments will not only be able to give an even better answer to the fast-growing demand for its filaments, but also new expertise, materials, techniques the global footprint of Mitsubishi Chemical will further push our contribution to the the 3D printing market.”

Currently Dutch Filaments manufacturers and manages private label filaments through distribution and to printer manufacturers. The Netherlands based 3D printer filament manufacturer offers a wide range of materials for FDM 3D printers and can produce “special colours and colour effects starting from 40kg ± 10%.” The company also develops, manufactures and sells special polymer filaments, to meet requests from customers.

Dutch Filaments was founded by Jan Meulendijks, Wim Spoormakers and Richard Luiken with Henry van Tilburg. Richard Luiken commented on the significance for Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers on the the acquisition of Dutch Filaments saying, “[this] is an important step to become a leading polymers and material supplier for 3D printing technology platforms to accelerate the implementation of 3D printing production. Expansion of manufacturing 3D printing filaments to other regions is planned to support our worldwide customers.”

Dutch 3D printer filament manufacturers have proved a popular acquisition. In August 2017 we reported on the takeover of Innofil3D by BASF.
