Clippable 3D Printed Pendants for the Fashion Forward

Tired of those annoying necklace chains dangling around your neck? Don’t you just wish that you could snip-snip those pendants off and somehow attach them directly to your clothing? I know what you’re thinking, “Those are called pins, buttons or broaches.” No, silly! This is the 21st Century; you have to think in terms of 3D printing! Italian designer Maria Jennifer Carew has addressed that 20th Century problem with the technology of her age, releasing a line of 3D printed, clippable pendants called “LessIS”.

LessIS is made up of an array of simple geometric shapes with clippable backings, fashion paper clips, if you will, that can be attached to the cuffs and collars of your clothing.  The designer told Dezeen, “Today accessories are a key element in any outfit, so I decided to focus on the concept of necklace where often the most important role is played by the pendant and not by the chain that supports it.”  Printed as a continuous strand of material, the prototype line is made up of a number of shapes in bronze, brass and black or white nylon.  Check them out below:

I’m no product designer, but I have watched a few seasons of Project Runway and I can say that, paired with the right ensemble, these could be a hit.  Really, the key is that you have to make it work. I’d say that the clean simplicity is perfect for modern simple clothing or to keep small stacks of paper together on your desk.
