3D Printing

Get ready for Shapeways’ 3D Printing UK Roadtrip!

Shapeways is taking another road trip and this time it’s the UK’s turn (minus Wales), with England, Northern Ireland and Scotland getting to show off their 3D printing communities. Do you think your local make space has what it takes to be a stop on their road trip?

When last we heard from Shapeways’ Shop-Owner Coach and marketer extordinaire, Savannah Peterson, she was roadtripping across the United States to places like Las Vegas, Denver and Chicago. This year she’s turning her RV (In my head it looks like the RV from Mtv’s Road Rules) around and heading across the pond to host meetups, showcase 3D designers from the Shapeways store and to mingle with the making community. No word yet on if there will be punch and pie.

She’s planning her road trip a little differently this year, she is asking the 3D printing community and Shapeways Shop Owners to help choose spots to host meet-ups.

“Why? I learned on the Shapeways Roadtrip across America that Shapies know their cities best. I’m looking for leaders in each region (or just lovers of great pubs) to recommend spaces we can gather, show off models and share insights,” says Savannah.

Savannah and Shapeways are also looking for people who are comfortable being on video and willing to share some great tips or advice, teach people about 3D printing or inspire people with their 3D printing journeys. The tour seems pretty Shapeways focused, so they are most likely looking for Shapeways shop owners to feature in their video designer showcases. Here’s a video of Savannah talking about her role at Shapeways:

Here are the road trip dates and cities:

Galway, Ireland: Monday, March 24th (ie today!)

London, England: Wednesday, March 26th

Edinburgh, Scotland: Monday, March 31st

Remember, the locations are still to be determined because Shapeways is looking for community suggestions. Email Savannah your suggestions here or visit the road trip announcement page and leave  a comment with suggestions for suitable places to park her RV. Okay, there may not be an RV involved, but you should still leave a comment.
