Stratasys has just launched a new digital material, developed exclusively for the Objet Connex line of multi-material 3D printers, dubbed Digital ABS2. Based on PolyJet technology, Digital ABS2 is used to create rigid prototypes with a smooth finish and like the original Digital ABS, Digital ABS2 offers excellent durability to functionally simulate products made from engineering-grade ABS. However, what ABS2 also now offers is enhanced dimensional stability that enables users to easily prototype and verify parts with higher rigidity, fine edges and very thin wall geometries.
According to Stratasys, Digital ABS2’s enhanced rigidity and dimensional stability make it suitable for a wide range of applications, from form, fit and assembly prototyping in the early stages of product development to producing end use functional parts. It is also ideal for the creation of tools for injection moulding, especially when complex geometries are necessitated.
Digital ABS2 and the original Digital ABS are available in green and a new ivory colour, which Stratasys claims is perfect for parts for consumer goods and consumer electronics.
