Shining 3D launches new EinScan Pro HD 3D scanner

Shining 3D, a Hangzhou-headquartered 3D printer and scanner manufacturer, has launched its latest handheld 3D scanner: the EinScan Pro HD.

Featuring a multi-functional and modular design typical of Shining 3D’s EinScan Pro line, the EinScan Pro HD aims to deliver improved performance in capturing high resolution and high accuracy handheld 3D scans for a versatile range of applications.

Intended for designers and engineers seeking high quality 3D modeling, Shining 3D has implemented a new modular projection light structure in the EinScan Pro HD scanner, which means the stripe usually reserved for the Fixed Scan Mode is now utilized in the Handheld HD Scan Mode. This helps to improve the overall resolution of the scanner; the EinScan Pro HD’s handheld mode matches the levels achieved by its fixed scan alternative.

Shining 3D’s EinScan 3D scanners

A leading 3D printer and scanner manufacturer in the Chinese market, Shining 3D is perhaps best known for its EinScan range of 3D scanners.

This range includes both desktop and multi-functional handheld 3D scanners. The company’s desktop 3D scanners include the EinScan-SP designed for SMEs, and the EinScan-SE system suited for educational purposes.

Shining 3D’s handheld-orientated EinScan Pro range includes the EinScan Pro 2X and 2X Plus. Released in 2018, the pair of scanners weigh between 1-2 kgs and can collect up to 1,500,000 data points to provide precise details of the scanned image. Each of the models have four scanning modes: Handheld Rapid Scan, Handheld HD (High Definition) Scan, Automatic Fix Scan-Turntable, and a Fix Scan-Free mode. The modes are suited to different types of tasks, with the selected mode and object determining the accuracy of the 3D scan.

Shining 3D’s EinScan 3D scanners have been used for a range of applications. In Sierra Leone, it has been by a nonprofit organization to scan patients to 3D print personalized prostheses. It was also revealed that the Indian Navy and Indian 3D printing service bureau think3D used an EinScan Pro 3D scanner to help produce spare parts on demand using additive manufacturing, for both on and off-shore scenarios.

The new EinScan Pro HD

Updated with the company’s latest technology, Shining 3D’s new EinScan Pro HD 3D scanner uses new lighting projection hardware and software algorithms. The new technology means the scanner is able to scan a wider range of objects of dark or black color and casting metal surface, according to Shining 3D.

Like the rest of the EinScan Pro series, the new EinScan Pro HD also comes equipped with multiple scan modes and alignments for different applications, including a Fixed Scan Mode, Handheld HD Scan Mode, and Handheld Rapid Scan Mode.

The 3D scanner itself is capable of delivering accuracies up to 0.04 mm in Fixed Scan Mode. Under handheld scanning mode by marker alignment, the volumetric accuracy is up to 0.045mm+0.3mm/m. The Handheld scan speed is also capable of reaching up to 3,000,000 points/s.

Additionally, the EinScan Pro HD is designed to be used in conjunction with Shining 3D’s ExScan Pro software for  3D scanning and data processing, containing a collection of both scan and mesh editing tools for generating 3D models.
