NVBOTS & Boy Scouts of America Bring 3D Printing to Future Engineers

NVBOTS made the announcement this morning that they will be partnering with none other than the Boy Scouts of America, Boston Minuteman Council to “provide a motivating 3D printing experience to scouts who aspire to become innovators in science and engineering.”

To support the organization, NVBOTS will be donating its NVPro 3D printing service to Camp Sayre STEM Camp, which takes place from April 20-24, 2015. This means that NVBOTS 3D printing experts will be on site to help scouts learn and experience the 3D printing process, using the company’s 3D printer, capable of web control and automatic print removal. The goal is to illustrate the many different ways that 3D printing is currently being used in science, engineering, mathematics, and technology.  Currently, there are over 25,000 Boy Scouts in Eastern Massachusetts and Camp Sayre attracts over 15,000 visitors annually.

According to NVBOTS CEO AJ Perez, “At NVBOTS, we are committed to training the next generation of scientists and engineers on design for 3D printing, and we are thrilled to be partnering with the Boy Scouts of America, an amazing organization that equips scouts with the skills necessary to pursue their dreams.  By giving access to the NVBOTS 3D printing experience, we look forward to playing a role in inspiring each scout to bring their ideas to life, in ways never before thought possible.”

Kim Kokkotos, head of development for Boy Scouts of America, Boston Minuteman Council, said, “We pride ourselves on providing an environment for scouts that allows them to learn, grow and be inspired. The team at NVBOTS is passionate about giving these young minds the experiential learning they need to excel in the world and we are excited to collaborate with them on creating valuable experiences for our scouts in the months to come.”

This latest announcement is among many of the start-up’s efforts to brings its printers into the educational market, along with donating their machines to low-income schools and making their 3D printing curriculum Common Core compliant. NVBOTS can now add the Boy Scouts of America to their list of educational clients and, if you find yourself in the main lobby of the Boston Minuteman Council, you will also find yourself next to an NVBOTS 3D printer, which will be there to make it possible for any scout to 3D print their own objects on a daily basis.
