NAMIC Global Additive Manufacturing Summit 2021 returns tomorrow

Tomorrow sees the return of the Singapore National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Cluster’s (NAMIC) Global Additive Manufacturing Summit, also known as GAMS 2021.

GAMS 2021 marks the 10th edition of the 3D printing summit, taking place 25-26 November, and is the second time the event has been held virtually since the start of the pandemic. This year, the summit’s driving theme is “Revolutionizing the Future of Additive Manufacturing with Leaders in 3D Printing”, and will feature 3D Printing Industry’s own Editor-in-Chief Michael Petch as part of the line-up.

Accelerating 3D printing in Singapore

NAMIC is Singapore’s national additive manufacturing accelerator and is responsible for implementing strategies to further the adoption of 3D printing for production within the region. NAMIC connects industry, research, and public agencies to identify and accelerate promising additive manufacturing technologies and companies globally while funding research based on industry needs and applications.

NAMIC focuses on areas where Singapore possesses deep capabilities, such as aviation, space, healthcare, marine offshore and maritime, precision engineering, and other industries. The organization has previously partnered with the likes of America Makes to launch open calls to advance 3D printing technology around the world, and has supported ASTM International’s standardization efforts within the 3D printing sector.

NAMIC also leverages its flagship events to create a vibrant additive manufacturing ecosystem throughout the Asia-Pacific region and beyond, with GAMS 2021 at the forefront of this effort.

GAMS 2021

The first virtual GAMS took place last year and saw a turnout of nearly 1,000 delegates from over 30 countries discuss the latest 3D printing innovations and applications. Going forwards, the 2021 summit will remain virtual but will aim to deliver an improved and enhanced experience for the audience with the introduction of new digital elements.

“GAMS 2020 is the perfect event to engage industry leaders and innovators from across the landscape,” said Jonathan Hung, Executive Chairman of Singapore Space & Technology (SSTL). “3D printing for/in space is not as commonly discussed and this was a great opportunity to share insights and connect with the network of professionals and experts.”

GAMS 2021 will get the summit underway with an opening address from guest of honor Alvin Tan, Singapore’s Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture, Comunity, and Youth. Professor Alfred Huan, Assistant Chief Executive, Science, and Engineering Research Council A*STAR, will also be delivering a keynote speech at the event, focused on “Nurturing the Next Generation of Leaders in Additive Manufacturing for a Sustainable Future.”

This year’s lineup of speakers is bigger than ever, with more than 20 high-level speakers set to share their knowledge with the audience on the latest 3D printing trends, themes, and future direction. Joining 3D Printing Industry’s Petch will be speakers from the likes of global venture capital firm AM Ventures, the World Economic Forum (WEF), and companies such as APWORKS, Redefine Meat, and The LEGO Group.

Over the next two days, the summit will focus on four key sessions: Global Investment Perspective on Additive Manufacturing, Evolution of 3D Printing in Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain, Breaking New Grounds with Emerging Applications, and Social Impact with 3D Printing.

GAMS 2021 will also see two new segments added to the program, an Industry Spotlight and AM Careers Talk. The Industry Spotlight will feature NAMIC’s corporate-sponsored Cetim-Matcor, Hexagon, TRUMPF, and TÜV SÜD, while the AM Careers Talk will take the form of a two-part videocast that will educate viewers on the trends and opportunities in the 3D printing job market.

In light of the rising popularity of virtual event platforms since the pandemic, NAMIC has launched its own events platform, NAMIC.TV. NAMIC.TV will broadcast GAMS 2021 live and will also give viewers the chance to watch recordings of past webinars.
