Marie Langer to focus on sustainability of 3D printing as new CEO of EOS

Leading German 3D printer OEM EOS has appointed a new CEO. Effective immediately, Marie Langer, the daughter of company founder Dr. Hans Langer, will assume leadership of EOS GmbH, seeing outgoing CEO Dr. Adrian Keppler take on a role as managing director.

Announced today via the company website, Langer has stated that her leadership will see the company do more with the “positive environmental and social benefits” of 3D printing, while keeping EOS at the “cutting edge” of the technology.

The announcement was also accompanied by news that Dr. Tobias Abeln, the company’s former CTO, and Bertrand Humel van der Lee, the previous CCOO, would be leaving the company by mutual agreement.

“30 years of personal commitment at all levels and our shared culture have made us into the highly successful company we are today,” continues Langer’s incoming statement.

“We have successfully harnessed the pioneering spirit of the early years and combined it with the expertise of a global market leader. From both a technological and an organizational perspective, EOS is optimally positioned for a successful future.

“My vision is that EOS stays at the cutting edge of industrial 3D printing technology and that the company makes a sustainable contribution towards solving the huge challenges facing us today.”

Succession planning

Marie Langer and her brother Uli have long-been rumored as potential leaders of EOS. Earlier this year, an article in Forbes confirmed that Dr. Langer had officially begun succession planning, with both children shadowing the founder from late 2018. At that point, it was suggested that both siblings would take on leadership roles at the company within the next six months.

Where Marie Langer has taken on the role as CEO of EOS, Uli Langer is so far continuing his position as Partner Manager of AM Ventures, another part of the wider EOS family of companies.

With a diploma in psychology from the University of Vienna, Marie Langer has a history of taking a humanitarian approach to business. Much of her prior experience has been focused on supporting the education of young children.

Since August 2016, Langer has been listed at the co-owner of both the wider EOS GROUP and AM Ventures acting on the companies’ advisory boards. Her sustainable vision for the future of EOS appears well-aligned with the view of her father, who continues to lead the wider EOS GROUP.  Speaking to 3D Printing Industry in acceptance of our Outstanding Contribution to 3D Printing award earlier this year, Dr. Langer stated:

“Besides business benefits, our technology contributes to making the world a better place to live in. To address this, among others, humaneering will be a big focus for us.”
