MadeSolid Releases Resin for Castable 3D Prints

Speaking of casting precious metals, why let Shapeways do the work when you, as a jewelry shop or business owner, can 3D print your own castable objects? SLA and DLP 3D printers are capable of creating intricate shapes by throwing light onto UV curable resin and, with the right resin, these finely detailed prints can often be cast in precious metals.  Resin manufacturer MadeSolid has just announced a new material that might be perfect for the job.

MadeSolid FireCast 3D Printing Resin Rings

Though high-end, light-based 3D printers are frequently used for investment casting, the new FireCast Resin from MadeSolid is particularly formulated for consumer SLA/DLP machines, such as the Form1, B9 Creator, and Deep Imager 5. The company claims that the new material, which leaves no ash in the heating phase of casting, lowers the barrier of entry for the use of 3D printing in jewelry making and metal casting.  And to make sure that FireCast meets casting standards in the industry, the company has worked with Mind-2-Matter, a casting group in San Leandro, and beta testers around the US.

If you’ve got an SLA/DLP 3D printer, you might consider purchasing a bottle of FireCast for $199 a bottle.  If you don’t have one, consider saving up because this technology can print some truly impressive stuff!
